Jessie Guerrero Loses Child in Horrific Head-On Crash on Highway 198 [Tulare County, CA]

1-Month-Old Baby Killed in Tulare County Auto Accident on Highway 198 and Horse Creek Road

TULARE COUNTY, CA (October 2, 2024) – Monday afternoon, Jessie Guerrero lost her child in a horrific head-on crash on Highway 198.

The incident involving two vehicles occurred just before 2:00 p.m. on Highway 198 and Horse Creek Road.

Investigators report that 24-year-old Johnathon Reyes of Visalia was driving a Kia Optima westbound on Highway 198 when he attempted to pass another vehicle. As he moved into the opposite lane, he collided with an oncoming Freightliner truck while trying to return to the westbound lane.

Reyes, 25-year-old Guerrero, and a 1-month-old baby girl in the Kia were transported to Kaweah Health Medical Center. Reyes and Guerrero sustained serious injuries, while the baby tragically died at the hospital. Investigators confirmed that Reyes was driving under the influence of alcohol and was subsequently arrested. 

According to CHP, all individuals appeared to have been wearing seatbelts or secured in a child safety seat during the crash.

At this time, the circumstances that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.

Due to the limited information available, the authorities continued to investigate the crash.
