Jessica Mertens Dies in Solo-Vehicle Crash on 24th Street in Phoenix

Phoenix, AZ (December 25, 2021) – Early Saturday morning, 36-year-old Jessica Mertens died and a male driver sustained injuries in a solo-vehicle crash on 24th Street and Cactus Road.

The fatal solo-vehicle accident in Phoenix happened at around 3 a.m. on December 25.

Phoenix Police said the vehicle involved was traveling north on 24th Street when the driver, an adult man, lost control, crossed into the oncoming lane, and hit a power pole.

The female passenger of the vehicle, Mertens, died at the crash scene.

EMS then took the male driver to the hospital in unknown condition.

Police added that speed may have contributed to the 24th street crash.
