Honda Driver Jessica Avila Munoz Dies in Sebastopol Road Collision [Santa Rosa, CA]

Santa Rosa, CA (August 18, 2024) – 31-year-old Santa Rosa resident Jessica Avila Munoz was killed in a DUI crash on Sebastopol Road Friday afternoon.

It was about 1:30 when the collision between a Honda, a silver Dodge pickup truck, and a white Prius, happened at the intersection with Lombardi Court.

SRPD said the Honda driven by Avila Munoz was turning left from Lombardi Court when the Dodge pickup that appeared to have run the red light collided with the Honda. 

Afterward, the Honda then struck the Prius.

Responding officers extracted the unconscious Avila Munoz from her vehicle and transported her to a hospital where she was pronounced dead.

The Dodge pickup truck driver, 68-year-old Santa Rosa resident Nhan Van Nguyen, was not hurt in the collision. He was taken to the hospital by ambulance for treatment. 

Nguyen was later released from the hospital and the authorities booked him into the Sonoma County Jail on charges of gross vehicular manslaughter and felony DUI causing great bodily injury. Troopers said this collision was his fifth DUI involvement and that he has a suspended Drivers License.

The Prius driver was injured in the collision and remained at the scene.

This fatal Santa Rosa collision is still under investigation.
