33-year-old Motorcycle and 36-Year-Old Passenger Killed in SUV-Motorcycle Crash on Keswick Dam Road near Quartz Hill Road
REDDING, CA (February 4, 2018) – A 33-year-old motorcyclist and his 36-year-old passenger were fatally injured on Sunday afternoon when they collided with an SUV.
According to California Highway Patrol, the accident happened around 3:30 PM. 33-year-old Jesse Lee Quaid was driving the motorcycle westbound on Keswick Dam Road and failed to make a curve west of Quartz Hill Road.
The motorcycle then fell on its side in the eastbound lane. The driver of an SUV heading east suddenly slowed and turned to the right, but failed to avoid colliding with the motorcycle. Both the 41-year-old driver of the SUV and a 2-year-old girl passenger were not harmed in the collision.
Arriving officers found the motorcyclist and his 36-year-old female passenger, Kristionna Anne Quaid, pinned under the SUV. Shasta County fire personnel used equipment to get the couple out.
The motorcycle driver was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after the incident, and his passenger suffered major injuries. She was taken to Mercy Medical Center where she later died. It was not immediately confirmed how the victims were related.
