Road Rage in Carmichael Kills 4-Year-Old Girl, Injures Mother
CARMICHAEL, CA (November 14, 2019) – A 4-year-old girl died in a road rage crash Thursday morning in Carmichael.
The crash happened just after 7:00 a.m., near the intersection of Winding Way and Dewey Drive.
According to reports, a 30-year-old Chardae Murphy was driving a sedan with her daughter, when she passed another driver. That driver got mad and cut her off, causing her to drift off the roadway. Her car then crashed into a tree and was split in half.
The child, Jer’Liyah Stevenson, was in a booster seat in the back of the car when the crash occurred.
Paramedics rushed Stevenson and Murphy to a hospital for further treatment. Tragically, Stevenson did not survive and was declared dead. Murphy is still recovering in the ICU.
CHP officials are asking anyone who saw the crash to come forward. They are on the lookout for the driver of a silver pickup truck.
However, the family said Thursday evening a green Jeep Cherokee was the one involved in the crash.
Further investigation of this crash is underway.
A GoFundMe has been created to help the family with funeral and medical costs.
During this moment of grief, we would like to extend our sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Jer’Liyah Stevenson.
