Driver Dies after Pickup Truck Collides Head-On with Semi Truck on Highway 99 near McDonald Avenue
LIVE OAK, CA (December 30, 2019) – A man was killed following a head-on crash Monday morning in Sutter County.
The crash happened around 8:46 a.m. on Highway 99 near McDonald Avenue.
According to the CHP, a 2000 GMC pickup truck was traveling north on Highway 99 when it crossed over into oncoming traffic. It then collided head-on with a 2014 Peterbilt semi truck.
As a result, the GMC driver, 40-year-old Jeremy Barrington of Live Oak, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The big rig driver, a Turlock man, suffered minor facial lacerations and declined medical transport.
Authorities closed the highway in both directions for four hours while they investigated the crash.
Alcohol is suspected to be a factor in the crash, but the big rig driver has not been arrested, according to the CHP.
