13-Year-Old Jeremiah Villalobos Dies in Columbus Street Pedestrian Crash [Bakersfield, CA]

Bakersfield, CA (November 14, 2024) On 13-year-old Jeremiah Villalobos was killed after the Columbus Street pedestrian crash.

According to Bakersfield police, the fatal crash happened at about 3 p.m. at the intersection of Columbus and Loyola streets.

Reports say that a vehicle struck and fatally injured the 13-year-old boy riding a bicycle in northeast Bakersfield.

Emergency responders transported the teen, identified as Villalobos, to Kern Medical, where he later died.

Police reported that the driver, heading westbound on Columbus Street, collided with Jeremiah, who was traveling south on Loyola Street. Investigators have ruled out alcohol, drugs, and excessive speed as factors in the crash.

Jeremiah’s mother has organized a vigil at the crash site Thursday evening to honor his memory. Chipman Junior High, where Jeremiah was a student, will have grief counselors available for students needing support.
