Jeremiah Fields Fatally Injured in Pedestrian Crash on Arrowhead Road in Clearlake

35-Year-Old Clearlake Man Struck and Killed by Car near Ciwa Street

 
CLEARLAKE, CA (April 29, 2018) – Around 9:00 PM on Sunday evening, a man was killed in a pedestrian accident on Arrowhead Road. The victim was later identified as 35-year-old Jeremiah Fields of Clearlake.
 
Officials from the Clearlake Police Department and emergency responders arrived at the scene of the accident near Ciwa Street, to find the man lying on the road unconscious, and with critical injuries. The driver remained on the scene and cooperated with authorities.
 
According to reports, 26-year-old James Adkins of Clearlake was driving westbound on Arrowhead in a 2005 Toyota Camry. At the same time, Fields was walking the wrong way in the westbound lanes of Arrowhead near Ciwa. Adkins did not see the pedestrian until it was too late, and almost collided with another vehicle when swerving out of the way.
 
The Toyota struck Fields, killing him on the scene. Drugs and alcohol are not considered to be contributing factors, according to Sgt Tim Hobbs with the Clearlake PD. They continue to investigate the fatal collision.
