44-Year-Old Santa Maria Woman Run Over by Trailer near Winter Road
ORCUTT, CA (April 24, 2018) – On Tuesday evening, a woman of Santa Maria was killed after falling out of a vehicle and being run over in a trailer accident near Dickson Drive.
California Highway Patrol officers responded to the accident reports just before 7:30 PM. A woman, later identified as Jennifer Insley of Santa Maria, fell out of a moving pickup truck and was struck by the trailer it was pulling, near Dickson Drive and Winter Road.
The driver of the Chevy pickup that was pulling a gooseneck trailer, drove away from the area and then Insley jumped in or attempted to jump in the rear of the pickup for unknown reasons, but failed to hang on. She fell off the car and was run over by the trailer tires. She was rushed to Marian Regional Medical Center, where she was later pronounced dead.
The pickup and trailer were not at the scene of the crash when officers arrived but the vehicle was later located in Guadalupe. The relationship of the driver and woman is unclear at this time, but CHP said that they knew each other.
Toxicology reports for Insley are pending and authorities are still investigating the incident. No arrests have been made at this time.
We at Sweet Law Group offer our deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Jennifer Insley. May she rest in peace.
