Jennifer Chavez Killed in Rollover Crash on Paradise Road [MODESTO, CA]

Ignacio Franco Injured in Deadly Crash on Paradise Road in Modesto

 
MODESTO, CA (September 29, 2019) – A woman was killed in a rollover crash Sunday afternoon in Modesto, authorities said.
 
The crash happened around 12:44 p.m. on Paradise Road, just east of Illinois Avenue.
 
According to the CHP, a 2004 Ford F-150 was heading westbound when it veered to the right, left the roadway and struck trees in a walnut orchard. The vehicle then landed on its roof.
 
As a result, the female passenger of the car died at the scene. The Stanislaus County Coroner’s Office identified her as Jennifer Chavez, 42, of Modesto. She was not wearing a seat belt.
 
Meanwhile, paramedics transported the driver, 40-year-old Ignacio Franco of Modesto, to Memorial Medical Center with moderate injuries.
 
Franco later told officers he and Chavez were arguing, and the steering wheel was yanked sharply to the left.
 
Alcohol and/or drugs do not appear to be factors in the crash, which remains under investigation.
