Goleta Man Arrested in HWY 1 Fatal Traffic Collision
Santa Barbara, CA (October 28, 2022) – Earlier today, 19-year-old Jenna Causby and 20-year-old Dorothyann Guthrie of Lompoc, died in a Highway 1 collision.
The authorities say two women were northbound on Highway 1 when Kyle Nelson, a 22-year-old male Goleta man driving a Ford C-Max tried to overtake slower traffic collided head-on into the two women driving a Chevy Malibu.
Immediately, the Santa Barbara Fire Department responded to the scene and located both cars ablaze and severely crushed in the front.
SBC Fire declared Jenna Causby and 20-year-old Dorothyann Guthrie dead at the scene.
The paramedics took Kyle Nelson to SB Cottage Hospital who suffered major injury. Investigators say he was arrested for gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated in connection to the HWY 1 fatal traffic collision.
