Pickup Truck Rear-Ends Stalled Car on 10 Freeway
LOS ANGELES, CA (May 2, 2019) – A man and a woman were killed following a rear-end crash early Thursday morning, in the Mid-City area of Los Angeles.
The fatal crash happened around 4:20 a.m., on westbound 10 Freeway. Dispatchers arrived to the area near Hauser Boulevard soon after.
According to reports, the collision involved a 2013 Chevrolet Silverado and a white Nissan Altima. The Chevy reportedly rear-ended the Nissan, which was stalled in the middle lane at the time.
A coroner’s office identified the victims as Jeli Cabrerra, 35, of Los Angeles, and Modesta Guadelupe Tecuapacho, 55, also from Los Angeles. They were both passengers inside the Nissan.
The driver of the Nissan, a 36-year-old Los Angeles man, suffered a broken femur as a result of the impact. He was eventually taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center for further treatment.
The sole occupant of the Silverado was identified as a 33-year-old La Puente man. He suffered a minor facial laceration and was treated on scene.
Three westbound lanes of the Freeway were closed for nearly four hours.
It is currently unknown if charges has been filed. Liability has not yet been determined. The incident still remains under investigation at this time.
