57-Year-Old Pedestrian Injured after Unlicensed Driver Crashes into Chevron Gas Station
ADELANTO, CA (July 9, 2018) – A man was hospitalized Monday morning after he was struck by a vehicle that crashed into the front doors of a Chevron Gas Station.
The collision happened at about 9:30 AM in the 11500 block of Bartlett Avenue. 57-year-old Jeffrey Irvin of Adelanto was sitting in front of the store when a vehicle, driven by 61-year-old Harvey Fenstermaker of Adelanto, crashed through the front doors.
Irvin was airlifted to a trauma center after suffering serious injuries from the collision, while Fenstermaker was transported to a local hospital for evaluation.
Investigators determined that Fenstermaker, a double amputee, accidentally pressed the gas while attempting to press the brake. As per reports, he was using his left leg, where he is missing his foot, to power the vehicle. No citations were issued at the scene and the cost of the damage to the business was not immediately available.
