Jeffrey Harmer and Caylob Pelayo Hospitalized in Bakersfield Car-Motorcycle Collision
BAKERSFIELD, CA (January 6, 2020) — Two people suffered serious injuries Thursday following a motorcycle and vehicle collision on Highway 58 near Renfro Road.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash unfolded around 9:30 p.m. Police believe 72-year-old Jeffrey Harmer attempted a turn into Rosedale Village Trailer Park. After that, his Honda collided with the front of a motorcycle.
It is unclear how fast Caylob Pelayo, 19, drove when his motorcycle crashed into the Honda. Pelayo wore a full-face helmet at the time. However, paramedics transported him to Kern Medical Center due to his major injuries. In addition, Harmer sustained moderate injuries and required hospitalization.
Since details are unclear, authorities plan to determine where the fault lies and have, thus far, ruled out impairment as a possible factor.
Take your time when making turns or switching lanes. When we are reckless on the road, an accident occurs. It is better to lose a bit of time than to get yourself involved in an unnecessary collision.
