Christmas Day Rollover Crash in Pleasanton Kills 3 Teens and Badly Injures 2

 
PLEASANTON, CA (December 25, 2019) – Three teens died in a rollover crash on Christmas Day in the northern California community of Pleasanton.
 
The crash happened just before 10:00 p.m., on Foothill Road just north of Castlewood Drive.
 
According to the CHP, a Hyundai sedan was heading south on Foothill Road when it crossed into the northbound lanes. It then overturned before slamming into a power pole along with a large tree.
 
First responders found the the driver and two passengers dead at the scene. Two other passengers were later taken to a nearby hospital with major injuries.
 
The identities of the deceased teenagers have been released by the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office Coroner’s Bureau. They were Javier Ramirez and twin brothers Mark Urista and Michael Urista, all age 16. A GoFundMe site has been set up for the family of the Urista brothers who attended Dublin High School.
 
The impact of the crash consequently severed the power pole at the base and upended the pole. It also caused a transformer to rupture and spill about 20 gallons of mineral oil onto the roadway.
 
Officials eventually closed the surrounding area on Foothill Road for most of Thursday as PG&E crews repaired the damage. However, the roadway has since been reopened.
 
Alcohol did not appear to be a factor in the crash. However, further investigation is still underway at this time.
