Javier Castillo of Planview Injured in Deadly Crash on Loop 335 [Amarillo, TX]

Amarillo, TX (August 29, 2024) – Javier Castillo, 62, of Planview, was injured in a deadly vehcile crash on Loop 335 Wednesday noon.

It was about 12:30 p.m. when the fiery head-on crash happened on Farmers Avenue, approximately five miles east of Amarillo.

DPS officers said a Ford F-150 driven by Cyrus Fields swerved into oncoming traffic and struck a big rig. The Ford then went into a ditch, overturned, and started fire.

Responders declared Fields deceased the crash scene.

The big rig driver, Javier Castillo, was rushed to Northwest Texas Hospital with non-life-threatening Injuries. His vehicle incurred significant front-end damage.
