1 Dead and 1 Hurt in Skagit County Car Collision
SKAGIT COUNTY, WA (January 6, 2020) – A 19-year-old man died and another sustained injuries in a car collision on Highway 20 on January 3.
At about 2:45 a.m., the state troopers and medics came to Highway 20 and Deception Pass Road after receiving reports of a serious accident blocking the roadway, Trooper Heather Axtman of the State Patrol revealed.
Upon their arrival, they located two totaled vehicles – a 2005 Chevy Cobalt and a 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee.
The authorities pronounced the 19-year-old Chevy driver Jaushon A. Claygerner dead at the scene. Clargerner solely occupied the Chevy.
According to investigations, the Chevy traveled north on Highway 20 when it drove across the center line and crashed into the passenger side of the southbound Jeep.
A 24-year-old passenger in the Jeep sustained injuries and went to a local hospital. The passenger was from Loudonville, N.Y. Meanwhile, the 24-year-old Jeep driver from Kalamazoo, Mich, didn’t suffer any injury.
The crash shut down Highway 20 for several hours during the cleanup and investigation of the collision. The road has since reopened.
