Cyclist Killed in Collision with Amtrak Train on Grand Avenue Identified
CARLSBAD, CA (September 26, 2019) – Authorities identified 37-year-old Jason Lynn Holsinger as the cyclist killed in a collision with an Amtrak train, Thursday evening.
According to the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office, the incident happened at about 7:25 PM. The victim was riding a bicycle on the sidewalk near the train tracks in the 300 block of Grand Avenue. There, an Amtrak train traveling at approximately 63 miles per hour hit the cyclist.
Emergency responders rushed Holsinger to Tri-City Medical Center in Oceanside, where he died from craniocerebral blunt force injuries. No other injuries were reported by the authorities.
Investigators ruled out suicide as the victim’s manner of death. Authorities will release additional information once it becomes available.
