Motorcyclist Dies after Crash with Big Rig on Highway 79 in Temecula
TEMECULA, CA (January 30, 2020) – A motorcyclist was killed in traffic accident Thursday night in Temecula, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The crash happened around 6:30 p.m. on Highway 79 north of Anza Road.
CHP officials said a 2016 Harley-Davidson motorcycle was traveling southbound when it veered into the northbound lane on a curve. It then struck head-on by a big rig, driven by a 48-year-old Escondido man.
The impact instantly killed the rider. The Riverside County Sheriff’s Coroner’s Bureau identified him as 34-year-old Jason Dreyer of Hemet.
The preliminary investigation shows Dreyer is suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol.
CHP officials issued a SigAlert and closed lanes near the crash site for two-and-a-half hours. All lanes were reopened around 10:07 p.m.
