2 Children Killed in San Bernardino Pedestrian Accident near 18th Street
SAN BERNARDINO, CA (September 2, 2019) – Two children died in a pedestrian accident near 18th Street on August 27.
According to the San Bernardino Police Department, a car hit a pedestrian. A motorcycle also struck the car and the crash ejected the two riders.
The incident occurred at about 3:23 p.m. near 18th Street and Sierra Way. The preliminary investigation revealed that the motorcycle rode behind the southbound car on Sierra Way.
14-year-old pedestrian Jason Castellanos of San Bernardino walked across Sierra Way at the intersection with 18th Street when a car hit him. When the motorcycle crashed into the car, the impact threw the 20-year-old male driver and his 10-year-old passenger, Heather Durham of Ontario.
Responders transported Castellanos, Durham and the motorcyclist to area hospitals with major injuries.
However, Castellanos and Durham succumbed to their injuries.
Meanwhile, the motorcyclist is now in stable condition. In addition, the 37-year-old female driver of the car didn’t suffer any injury.
The speed of the vehicles during the time of the crash is still unclear. Authorities are still investigating the collision.
