Two Tacoma Men Hospitalized after Car Crashes into Tree near Highway 704
SPANAWAY, WA (February 28, 2019) – Two men were hospitalized early Thursday morning following a single-vehicle crash near Highway 704. Authorities later identified the victims as 20-year-old Jason Atonio and 20-year-old Scott Galo Poloai, both residents of Tacoma.
According to the Washington State Patrol, the incident happened on Highway 7, at about 12:00 AM. A northbound black Cadillac Escalade crossed over the southbound lanes due to unknown circumstances. The vehicle left the roadway, plowed through a fence, and slammed into a tree.
Emergency responders transported Atonio and Poloai to St. Joseph Medical Center with unspecified injuries. Reports did not provide further updates on their current medical conditions.
An investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the crash. Investigators are considering impairment as a factor in the collision. Additional information will be released to the public once it becomes available.
