Kamau Ndirangu Arrested after Fatal Hit-and-Run DUI Accident near Northgate Boulevard
SACRAMENTO, CA (July 21, 2018) – A woman was killed early Saturday morning after her bicycle was struck by a hit-and-run driver near Northgate Boulevard.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision took place at approximately 1:54 AM. A 2012 Honda Accord was heading northbound on Highway 160 when it struck 22-year-old Sacramento resident, Jasmine Turpen.
Turpen sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency responders. The driver of the Honda did not stop after the collision and fled from the scene.
With the help of evidence located at the crash site, authorities were able to identify 24-year-old Kamau Ndirangu of Antelope as the hit-and-run driver. Ndirangu was located at his residence and was detained by CHP officers. He was later booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail on charges of felony hit-and-run and suspicion of DUI.
