One Killed and Four Critically Injured in Car Accident on Intersection of Long Beach Boulevard and Spring Street
LONG BEACH, CA (January 19, 2018) – Jaslyn Ouch was killed in a two-vehicle collision around 10:33 PM on Friday evening, in a commercial district on Long Beach Boulevard.
A 2000 silver Ford Mustang was speeding over 60 mph, going south on Long Beach Blvd, when it struck a 2015 Honda Civic that was turning left onto Spring Street.
The passenger of the Civic, 20-year-old Jaslyn Ouch, was pronounced dead at the scene. Ouch’s boyfriend and driver of the Honda was Branden Lee. He was taken to a trauma center with critical injuries. According to Jake Heflin of the Long Beach Fire Department, the Mustang jad three men inside.
All victims were trapped inside the wreckage, and had to be freed by rescuers. The three men also sustained serious injuries, and were transported to trauma centers.
The Long Beach Police Department suspects that drugs and/or alcohol may have been contributing factors to the fatal accident, and continue to investigate. Roadways were closed as authorities investigated the scene of the crash and cleared away the damaged vehicles and debris. The name of the Mustang driver has not yet been released, but police said that he was a 21-year-old resident of Compton.
A GoFundMe page has been set up to help the victim’s family with funeral costs.
Heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Jaslyn Ouch. We wish them strength and comfort in this very difficult time. May she rest in peace.
