1 Killed, 1 Injured in 2-Car Crash on Highway 20 in Ukiah
UKIAH, CA (December 25, 2019) – An elderly woman was killed following a two-car crash on Christmas Day in Mendocino County.
The crash happened around 5:30 p.m. on Highway 20 at Potter Valley Road.
According to the CHP, a 2017 Hyundai was traveling westbound in the slow lane of the highway. The driver allegedly made a U-turn from the second lane and crossed into the path of a westbound vehicle. The two vehicles collided, sending both into the westbound lanes.
As a result, the driver of the Hyundai died at the scene. Authorities identified her as Janice Kespohl, 80, of Lake County.
The driver of the other vehicle, 24-year-old Cielo Alavezos of Ukiah, was injured.
CHP officials are still investigating the crash to determine the factors involved.
