Janette Pantoja and Juan Almanza Zavala Killed in Highway 20 Collision [Yuba County, CA]

Man and Woman Killed in HWY 20 Collision

Yuba County, CA (August 19, 2022) – On August 17, the authorities located Janette Pantoja, 29, and Juan Almanza Zavala, 36, dead following a Highway 20 collision.

It was past 5 p.m. when the authorities received a report that a man found a vehicle down the freeway.

The CHP together with the Nevada County Sheriff’s Office immediately responded to the scene and found the man who located the vehicle. The man pointed the vehicle to the officers which cannot be seen from the highway as it was covered by bush.

The emergency responders went down to the vehicle and located Janette Pantoja and Juan Almanza Zavala. Officers declared them dead at the scene.

According to the authorities, Pantoja and Zavala went to a car show in Reno on August 6,. They were supposed to come back that night but didn’t.

In the meantime, the CHP is investigating the cause of the HWY 20 collision. Officers did not say if the two people were wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident. Also, they did not find obvious evidence of drugs or alcohol.
