49-Year-Old Hemet Woman Fatally Struck by Car near Oakland Avenue
HEMET, CA (May 17, 2018) – A woman was struck and killed by a car on San Jacinto Avenue, on Thursday evening. She was later identified by the Riverside County Coroner’s Office as 49-year-old Jane Dasilva of Hemet.
According to police reports, Dasilva had been crossing San Jacinto Street outside of a crosswalk, just north of Oakland Avenue, when hit by a silver coupe. The driver remained at the scene near the Allesandro Center and cooperated with officials.
Since the collision took place at the border of Hemet and San Jacinto, responders from both cities arrived at the scene. City of Hemet and San Jacinto Police Departments, Hemet Fire Department, and Cal Fire/ Riverside County Fire Department were at the crash site around 10:15 PM.
Despite CPR efforts, Dasilva succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after.
San Jacinto was closed between Oakland Avenue and Menlo Avenue for about two hours, as authorities conducted their investigation on the fatal incident. No additional information has been released to the public at this time.
