Fremont Man James Venenciano Dies in Alameda County Semi-Truck Crash
Alameda County, CA (July 09, 2021) – On Thursday, 70-year-old James Venenciano of Fremont died in a suspected DUI crash on Aladdin Avenue.
The accident happened at 12:07 a.m. on Interstate 880.
Officers said Venenciano was driving an Acura MDX south of the Aladdin Avenue when for unknown reasons his vehicle crashed with a big rig driving in the lane closest to the shoulder.
The Acura went across the traffic lanes where it then crashed with the concrete center median and stopped in the lane closest to the median.
Meanwhile, a Nissan driver in the lane attempted to drift out of the way, but still crashed with the Acura.
Right away, rescuers took Venenciano to a hospital where he died about 5:20 a.m.
Moreover, the authorities arrested the Nissan on suspicion of driving under the influence.
Officers said neither he nor the truck driver were injured.
