James Stokes Struck and Injured by Vehicle in Vermont Square

 
Los Angeles, CA (August 23, 2020) – On Friday, James Stokes was struck and critically injured in a hit-and-run crash on Vernon Avenue.
 
The fatal accident happened at about 7:40 p.m. on August 14 in Vermont Square.
 
Authorities said Stokes was struck by a speeding black Honda Civic while he was walking southbound across West Vernon Avenue at South Harvard Boulevard.
 
Apparently, the driver fled the scene heading eastbound on Vernon Avenue.
 
Authorities rushed Stoked to a local hospital for sustaining critical injuries.
 
On Friday, August 21, the authorities released images of a woman believed to be a passenger in the vehicle that struck Stokes. A witness was able to take pictures of the crash.
 
The witness confronted the occupants of the Honda. The female passenger got out of the vehicle with an open bottle of liquor. Then, the woman got back into the car and fled the scene.
 
Authorities said the Honda Civic sustained damage on the front windshield and hood. It was noted to have a partial license plate that ends in “394.” Police are searching for the suspects.
