Authorities Suspects Alcohol as Factor in Deadly Motorcycle Crash on Highway 155 in Glennville
GLENNVILLE, CA (February 8, 2020) – A man was killed in a motorcycle crash Saturday afternoon in Kern County, according to the CHP.
The crash happened around 1:20 p.m., on southbound Highway 155. Dispatchers arrived just south of Granite Road.
CHP officials said a Harley-Davidson motorcycle was traveling south when it drifted onto the right shoulder and collided with several rocks and boulders.
The rider was ejected from the bike and suffered major injuries.
Due to the remote location of the accident, rescue crews were dispatched by air ambulance. However, the rider was declared dead at the scene.
The Kern County Coroner’s Office later identified the deceased as James Dean Steiber, 53, of Bakersfield.
Following the initial investigation, officers suspect alcohol as a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation at this time.
We wish to offer our condolences to the bereaved loved ones and friends of James Steiber during this tragic time.
