Annetta Chism and Carrice Wheeler Injured in Two-Car Crash on 395 Freeway; James Russell Brown Fatally Injured
DEER PARK, WA (February 23, 2018) – On Friday evening around 6:30 PM, two cars collided on Highway 395 just one mile from Deer Park, resulting in one death and two injuries.
According to the Washing State Patrol, 52-year-old James Russell Brown was driving northbound in a 2004 Kia Spectra on Highway 395, when he was struck head-on by a 2000 Chevrolet Cavalier that was traveling southbound. The vehicle lost control and entered hsi lane.
Brown and his wife, Annetta Chism, had to be extricated from the Kia by officials. Both were transported to the Sacred Heart Medical Center with injuries, and Brown was later pronounced dead. Chevy driver, 24-year-old Carrice Wheeler, was injured and also taken to the hospital for medical treatment. Her passenger, 25-year-old Mariena Wright, was not hurt in the accident.
Authorities continue to investigate the fatal crash. Troopers said that Wheeler was driving too fast for the snowy conditions of the road. No other information has been provided at this time.
