James Nelson of Barnhart Dies in Vehicle Crash on US Route 67 [Jefferson County, MO]

Jefferson County, MO (September 8, 2024) – James Nelson, 40, of Barnhart, Missouri, was killed in a vehicle crash on US Route 67 early Friday morning.

The fatal collision happened at 1:45 a.m. at the northbound lanes of the highway near Interstate 55.

Investigators said Nelson was driving in one lane of the highway while an approaching driver was in a neighboring lane. 

Nelson went across the center line and has struck the left side of the approaching vehicle.

The impact of the collision sent Nelson’s vehicle over lanes and struck a concrete barrier. 

Immediately, the rescuers rushed Nelson to a hospital, where he succumbed to injuries.

Meanwhile, the passenger in Nelson’s vehicle, a 40-year-old man, was hospitalized with moderate injuries.

MSHP Troop C is investigating the crash.
