1 Dead in Shasta County Auto Accident on Highway 44 and Chateau Drive
SHASTA COUNTY, CA (August 5, 2021) – Wednesday morning, James Louthian suffered injuries in a deadly crash on Highway 44.
The incident happened at about 1:30 a.m. on Highway 44 and Chateau Drive.
According to the CHP, a man drove a 1994 Chevrolet S10 west on Highway 44, east of Chateau Drive. However, the authorities haven’t identified the speed of the vehicle.
Afterward, the driver veered south and off the south shoulder. Eventually, the vehicle crashed into a ditch and struck a tree on the vehicle’s right side.
The officials confirmed that the impact partially ejected the driver from the vehicle as it traveled southwesterly.
Afterward, the vehicle and the driver hit a tree before stopping, facing west on the south shoulder of the highway.
The CHP confirmed that 48-year-old passenger James Louthian sustained major internal injuries.
Also, they added that both men failed to wear their seat belts at the time of the crash.
