51-Year-Old Santa Rosa Man Hospitalized after Struck by Car on East Robles Avenue
SANTA ROSA, CA (September 4, 2018) – A man was seriously injured Tuesday evening in a pedestrian crash on southbound Santa Rosa Avenue. The victim was later identified as 51-year-old James Hewitt of Santa Rosa.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened at approximately 9:15 PM, just north of East Robles Avenue and about 400 feet from a crosswalk.
CHP Officer Kimberly Lemons stated that Hewitt was hit by 24-year-old Robert Yang of Sacramento. Yang was going about 30 mph when Hewitt appeared on the street. He tried to hit his brakes to avoid a collision but was unable to, striking the man.
Hewitt suffered major injuries and was taken by ambulance to the Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital for treatment. He was listed in serious condition in the hospital’s intensive care unit, but there is no update on his current medical status at this time.
Yang stayed at the scene and cooperated with officers during their investigation. He was not hurt, but his car was too damaged to be driven from the crash site. CHP officers found Hewitt was at No additional information has been released to the public, as the investigation is on-going.
