Two fatalities in Solo Vehicle Crash in Fackney at 5th Street Carmi
Carmi, CA (June 10, 2020)– On Monday night, a 29-year-old James Grant and a 21-year-old Brandon Rhodes both from Carmi, died in a solo vehicle crash in Fackney at 5th Street.
The accident happened at 9:26 p.m. on June 8. Dispatched officers then arrived and located a black 2006 Pontiac G6 on the scene.
Reportedly, the G6 was traveling southbound on 5th Street at an extremely high rate of speed. The vehicle failed to yield for the stop sign at 5th and Sycamore and continued South Bound then crashed into a large tree.
Shortly after, the vehicle was torn apart with the two occupants inside. The motor, tire, and debris being thrown through a fence at the residence located at 515 5th Street. Grant and Rhodes died on the scene.
Moreover, police confirmed an indication of alcohol could have contributed to the accident.
Officials closed the roadways until 1:45 a.m on June 9. Further investigation is ongoing.
