1 Dead in Lubbock Auto Accident on US Highway 62 and FM 789
LUBBOCK, TX (October 24, 2023) – Sunday night, James Gillon died in a horrific semi-truck accident on US Highway 62 and FM 789.
The incident happened at about 9:20 p.m. on US Highway 62 and FM 789.
According to reports, the crash involved a semi-truck. 63-year-old Eliopoldo Cazares Nieves drove the semi west on US 62. Then, he turned left onto CR 3800 and pulled over where the rear of the vehicle was in the eastbound lanes of the highway.
Meanwhile, 62-year-old Gillon driving a passenger car was approaching the intersection of CR 3800 in the right lane. Then, he crashed into the right side of the semi.
As a result, Gillon succumbed to injuries at the scene of the crash. Officers revealed that the victim was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
Meanwhile, the semi-driver suffered no injuries in the crash.
