Head-On Crash on Highway 4 in Modesto Badly Injures Two Drivers
MODESTO, CA (August 5, 2019) – Two men identified as James Curl and Andrew Futterman, were injured Monday morning following a head-on crash on Highway 4.
A 2006 Toyota Prius, driven by 30-year-old Futterman of Concord, was traveling west on Highway 4, just west of Stockton Road at an unknown speed. There, he illegally passed another vehicle before veering into the eastbound lane over a solid yellow line.
A 2009 Dodge Ram, driven by 51-year-old Curl of Vallecito, was in the eastbound lane and attempted to veer right to avoid the Prius.
The vehicles collided head-on and both Curl and Futterman suffered major injuries. They were airlifted to Doctors Medical Center for further treatment in unknown conditions.
The crash still currently remains under investigation.
Prevent head-on collisions from happening by always paying attention. Even if the other drivers on the road are drowsy, distracted, drunk, or whatever the case, you will have more time to react. If you are fully aware of your surroundings, you will be able to see the driver swerving down the road. Turn on your headlights to bring the driver’s attention to your presence, even during the day. They will begin to think about the other cars on the road. But be prepared to drive into the shoulder if they continue to swerve toward you.
