Angel Thompson Injured in Fatal Collision near Pit River Canyon Road
MCARTHUR, CA (August 24, 2018) – A man was killed late Friday evening in a rollover crash on Little Valley Road. The victim was identified as 40-year-old James Clair of Susanville.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision was reported at approximately 11:15 PM on the 59000 block of Little Valley, just south of Pit River Canyon Road.
The report showed that Clair was driving a 2001 Dodge 1500 pickup truck at a high rate of speed just before the accident occurred. He drifted onto the dirt shoulder while negotiating a curve in the roadway, causing the Dodge to lose control and roll several times.
Clair was reportedly not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the truck. He was proclaimed dead at the scene. His passenger, Angel Thompson, 40, of Susanville, was wearing a seat belt and sustained serious injuries. She was transported to Mercy Medical Center for treatment. There is no update on her current medical condition at this time.
No additional information has been released to the public, as officials continue to investigate the fatal accident.
