68-Year-Old James Blauer Killed in Costa Mesa Bicycle and Tow Truck Crash
Costa Mesa, CA (October 7, 2020) – On Friday, 68-year-old James Blauer of Costa Mesa lost his life in a bicycle crash on Harbor Boulevard.
Costa Mesa Police Department’s Major Accident Investigation Team responded to the scene at around 11:30 PM. When they arrived, they found the bicyclist and pronounced him dead.
The police report said Blauer died after the bicycle he was riding crashed with a tow truck on the 2900 block area.
Kelly Keyes, supervising deputy director for the Orange County coroner’s office, confirmed the victim’s identity on Monday. Though, the cause of his death was not yet determined as an autopsy is still pending.
Meanwhile, the tow truck driver did not get injured. He stayed at the scene and cooperated with the investigating officers.
Moreover, the authorities determined the driver was not under the influence of alcohol or drugs at the time of the crash. So, no arrests were made.
