DUI Fiery Crash in Simi Valley Injures One Passenger
SIMI VALLEY, CA (August 7, 2019) – James Francis Akrey, 33, of Simi Valley was arrested on suspicion of DUI after fiery crash on Tapo Canyon Road, police said.
The crash occurred around 7:40 p.m. Wednesday when two vehicles were headed east on Cochran Street, one behind the other.
As the vehicle in front slowed while approaching a red light at Tapo Canyon Road, the rear vehicle crashed into it and careened into a power pole, causing the vehicle to catch fire, according to police.
The passenger in the rear vehicle suffered moderate injures as a result of the crash.
None of the drivers were injured, but police determined the front vehicle driver was driving under the influence.
Akrey, was booked into Ventura County jail on suspicion of felony driving under the influence with injury, according to police. His bail was set at $50,000.
Investigation of this crash is ongoing.
