Injuries Reported in Kahoka Auto Accident on US Highway 136
KAHOKA, MO (October 13, 2024) – Friday night, Jake Kirby and George Nichols sustained injuries in a crash on US Highway 136.
The incident happened at around 12:25 p.m. on US Highway 136 in Kahoka.
A crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol indicates that a sport utility vehicle (SUV) operated by 97-year-old Nichols from Kahoka was heading east when he turned into the path of a westbound semi driven by 54-year-old Kirby from Lancaster, resulting in a collision.
Kirby sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to the University of Iowa Hospital. Nichols suffered moderate injuries and was transported to Blessing Hospital by Scotland County Ambulance.
The report notes that Nichols was wearing his seatbelt, but it is unclear whether Kirby was buckled in.
