Ricardo Barbosa Seriously Injured in Rollover Crash in Antelope Valley

ANTELOPE VALLEY, CA (DECEMBER 23, 2019) – A man was killed and another one was seriously injured following a DUI crash in Antelope Valley.

The crash happened around 9:30 p.m. on Longview Road, just south of Avenue S.

CHP officials said a gray 2001 Toyota sedan was heading south when it lost control. It then veered to the left and flip over several times. The car came to rest on the northbound lane.

As a result, one passenger died at the scene. He was identified as 28-year-old Jaime Hernandez of Pacoima.

A second passenger, 21-year-old Ricardo Barbosa, also from Pacoima, suffered major injuries. Paramedics rushed him to Antelope Valley Hospital in an unknown condition.

The unidentified driver of the Toyota fled the scene on foot.

It is unclear why the driver lost control of the car. The weather was clear but the road was wet at the time, according to CHP.

Officials shut down Longview Road between Avenue S and Avenue T for about 3 and a half hours while they investigated the crash.

Speed, alcohol or drugs might have played a role in the incident.

Our condolences remain with the family and friends of tJaime Hernandez. We also hope Ricardo Barbosa a fast and steady recovery.
