Injuries Reported in Bellingham Hit-and-Run Crash on Interstate 5 near Mount Lake Terrace

BELLINGHAM, WA (November 26, 2023) – Wednesday night, Jaime Garcia and 2 others suffered injuries in a startling auto accident on Interstate 5 near Mount Lake Terrace.

The personal injury hit-and-run collision happened just after 9:30 p.m. on Interstate 5 North near Mount Lake Terrace.

The Bellingham trio was in a 2005 Honda Accord when someone driving a 2006 Nissan Armada drove into the Honda. Then, the impact forced it into the jersey barrier and escaped the scene.

As a result, the Honda stopped and blocked the off-ramp to 220th St. Meanwhile, responders took the driver of the Honda, 34-year-old Garcia, 34 to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. Passengers Nestor E. Cruz, 38, and Neva M. Hansen, 19, were transported to Providence Regional Medical Center in Everett.

Officers said that all three wore seat belts during the crash.

After the crash, the Honda was totaled. Meanwhile, the authorities haven’t clarified whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash.

The authorities are still searching for a gray 2006 Nissan Armada with California license plate 5XKF504. Moreover, the authorities urged anyone with any relevant information or who may have spotted the vehicle to contact 911.

At this time, the circumstances that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.
