60-Year-Old Loveland Motorcyclist Fatally Struck by Vehicle near Butte Road
LARIMER COUNTY, CO (June 21, 2018) – A man was killed Thursday evening after his motorcycle was struck by a vehicle on the US Highway 34. 60-year-old Jahn Clark of Loveland, was later identified as the fatality in this incident.
According to the Colorado State Patrol, the collision happened shortly after 6:00 PM near Butte Road. A westbound Honda Accord was traveling ahead of a semi-truck, driven by 24-year-old Jared Rodriguez of Greeley.
The Honda slowed down in an attempt to make a left turn on Butte, but Rodriguez failed to observe and rear-ended the vehicle. The impact pushed the Honda into a Harley Davidson motorcycle, driven by Clark. The motorcyclist was thrown onto the ground.
Clark sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency responders. Rodriguez was reportedly unharmed, while the Honda driver received minor injuries but did not need hospitalization.
Eastbound lanes od the US 34 were temporarily shut down between Namaqua Road and County Road 23H to make way for an investigation. Tow trucks were also requested to clear the scene of the collision. No further details were immediately available to the public at this time.
