14-Year-Old San Bernardino Girl Killed in Hit-and-Run Crash near Glasgow Avenue

SAN BERNARDINO, CA (September 28, 2018) – A teenage girl was killed Friday morning following a hit-and-run collision near Glasgow Avenue. The victim was later identified as 14-year-old Jade Maldonado of San Bernardino.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident took place at about 7:10 AM on Pacific Street. Maldonado was walking in a marked crosswalk on her way to school when she was struck by an SUV.

The young pedestrian attempted to stand up and communicate with Good Samaritans before she lost consciousness. She was then rushed to the Loma Linda University Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead at 1:26 PM. A GoFundMe page was created to assist Maldonado’s family with funeral expenses. Meanwhile, the woman driving the vehicle did not stop to render aid and fled the scene, leaving the injured girl in the road. Authorities described the suspect vehicle as a gold or silver GMC Yukon or Chevrolet Tahoe, possibly with extensive front-end damage. Anyone with additional information is encouraged to contact Officer Brewer at the San Bernardino CHP Office by calling (909) 383-4247.

Further details will be released to the public, following the conclusion of the investigation.
