23-Year-Old Filmore Woman Fatally Injured in DUI Collision near Balcom Canyon Road, Christopher Almena Arrested
SANTA PAULA, CA (September 18, 2018) – A woman was killed in an ATV crash in the 20500 block of South Mountain Road, early Tuesday evening. The deceased victim was later identified by the Ventura County Medical Examiner’s Office as 23-year-old Jacqueline Reyes of Fillmore.
The collision took place at approximately 5:45 PM, near Balcom Canyon Road.
According to officials with the California Highway Patrol, 25-year-old Christopher Almena of Fillmore was driving an ATV with Reyes as a passenger. For unknown reasons, Almena lost control of the vehicle, causing it to roll over and eject Reyes from it.
She suffered critical injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency responders. Almena was later arrested on suspicion of felony driving under the influence of alcohol and was booked into the Ventura County jail. It is unclear if he was injured in the collision.
