Jacob Scianni Killed, Austin Redden Arrested in Norwalk DUI Accident
NORWALK, CA (May 17, 2019) – One person died and two others suffered injuries following a DUI Crash on Monday, May 13.
Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department said that 21-year-old Austin Redden was driving impaired when he lost control of an SUV. The vehicle then slammed into an unoccupied tow truck on Rosecrans Avenue near Elaine Avenue.
20-year-old Jacob Scianni, a passenger in the SUV, died in the crash. The two other 19-year-old passengers, Diego Castillo and Andrea Sandoval, sustained injuries. Sandoval remains on life-support, according to sheriff’s officials.
Surveillance video from a nearby office captured the crash. It showed that the SUV spun out on its head, almost striking other vehicles behind it.
Witnesses told a local news source that the SUV overturned at least four times before it landed on its roof. They also told the investigators that the driver was speeding recklessly and then lost control.
According to court records, Redden pleaded not guilty Wednesday. He received charges for murder and driving under the influence of drugs causing bodily injury. He is held on a $1.6 million bail.
