19-Year-Old Sonoma Man Identified as Person Killed in Crash near 1st Street
NAPA COUNTY, CA (October 7, 2018) – A man was killed late Sunday evening following a single-car crash near 1st Street. The victim was later identified as 19-year-old Jacob Patrick Paine, a resident of Sonoma.
According to officials with the Napa Police Department, the incident took place in the 1200 block of McKinstry Street. Responding officers found the man unconscious near a convertible sedan at about 10:51 PM. Events leading up to the incident were not immediately available.
Paine was transported to a local hospital for treatment and evaluation. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead by medical staff. No other injuries were reported by the authorities.
The preliminary investigation revealed that Paine had been in the sedan with five other people prior to the incident. Whether he was on or in the vehicle is still being investigated at this time. It was also noted that all the involved parties remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
Further investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the crash and to identify possible contributing factors.
