Man Struck by Tractor Trailer While Walking on Interstate 215 Near Keller Road
MENIFEE (January 20, 2018) – 31-year-old Jacob Muckelrath was killed in a big rig accident on the southbound 215 highway, approximately 1 mile south of Scott Road, around 6 AM on Saturday.
According to CHP reports, Muckelrath was walking in the middle of the third lane of southbound Interstate 215, when he was struck by a 2016 International tractor-trailer that was also heading south. He was thrown across on the roadway, and came to rest on the shoulder.
The driver, a 26-year-old man from San Diego, pulled over on the shoulder and called authorities.
The victim was critically injured and was transferred to the Inland Medical Center by paramedics. He was pronounced dead later on that day, around 1:36 PM, according to the Riverside County Coroner’s Office.
It is unclear why the man was walking on the freeway. Investigation continues by the California Highway Patrol Temecula Area Office.
