Fatal Vehicle and Pedestrian Collision Occurs Near Alabama Street
REDLANDS, CA (December 18, 2019) – The authorities identified Jacob Lopez as the person killed in a pedestrian accident on 10 Freeway westbound on Wednesday morning.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened near Alabama Street at approximately 4:40 AM.
Reports showed that a 2013 Tan GMC Sierra traveled on the freeway from the on-ramp at about 25-30 miles per hour when, due to the early-morning darkness, it struck the 21-year-old pedestrian.
Lopez, a Colton resident, died at the scene, according to emergency medical personnel.
The driver of the vehicle was identified as a 59-year-old man from Redlands. No further information was provided. However, an investigation into the accident is ongoing.
