Man Fatally Struck by Vehicle After Seeing Taylor Swift Concert in Houston
Houston, TX (April 24, 2023) – On Saturday early morning, Jacob Lewis lost his life following a Southwest Freeway hit-and-run crash.
Investigating officers said Lewis was returning from Taylor Swift’s ‘The Eras Tour‘ concert at NRG Stadium with his sister when their car suddenly became stalled in the northbound lane of Highway 59 and Shepherd Drive.
The victim’s sister, April Bancroft is physically okay. She said she saw the suspected DWI driver strike her brother.
Just a couple hours before the fatal incident took place, Bancroft and Lewis were preparing to see Taylor Swift together.
Lewis was pushing the stalled-out car when a Volkswagen Beetle driven by 34-year-old Alan Bryant Hayes drove from behind and struck Lewis. Hayes continued driving and fled the scene.
Unfortunately, Lewis succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
Moreover, a tow truck driver Hayes and followed him to the 4500 block of Caroline Street and called the called.
Hayes tried to flee on foot but was finally arrested by HPD officers a few minutes later.
He is in custody on a $90,000 bond. Court documents show that Hayes was charged with failure to stop and render aid and driving while intoxicated. Records also show that he was charged with DWI in 2014 and 2015.
